PANGLAO ISLAND, Bohol — Dr. Doloreich Dumaluan, a longtime member of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP), has urged authorities to end the impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte, saying the prosecution has yet to present compelling evidence to establish her guilt.
“They should stop it,” he said. I would rather stop that impeachment and spend the money para sa panginabuhian sa mga tawo.”
Dumaluan questioned the continued proceedings, arguing that the allegations against Duterte have not been sufficiently supported by strong evidence.
He also accused the prosecution of engaging in a “fishing expedition,” which he described as an attempt to search for evidence to support the accusations against the Vice President.
Dumaluan further criticized the cost of the impeachment proceedings, saying the government is spending millions of pesos each day on the process.
He said the funds could instead be redirected to health services and other programs intended to improve the welfare of Filipinos.
The PDP member also questioned what he described as new allegations against Duterte, including a grave threat complaint filed against the Vice President.
For Dumaluan, the developments only reinforce his view that there is still insufficient evidence to substantiate the accusations against Duterte.
He emphasized that his statements are his personal opinions as a longtime PDP member in Bohol and do not constitute a final determination on the merits of the impeachment case or the allegations against the Vice President.
