TAGBILARAN CITY — The provincial government of Bohol showcased its disaster preparedness and emergency response systems to Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro and a delegation of Cebu provincial officials during a visit to the Bohol Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Command Center on Friday, July 31.
Anthony Damalerio, head of the Bohol PDRRMO, briefed the Cebu delegation on the province’s disaster response operations, emergency equipment, and command center capabilities.
During the presentation, Damalerio highlighted the importance of maintaining a Quick Response Team and conducting Incident Command Executive Courses for local chief executives to strengthen coordination, leadership, and decision-making during emergencies.
He also shared Bohol’s operation of three sea ambulances that provide emergency response services to island and coastal communities, an initiative that complements Cebu’s efforts to enhance its maritime emergency response system.
Governor Baricuatro toured the province’s Unified Command Center and inspected several emergency response assets, including the Mobile Command Center, a rubber boat, and the solar-powered Search, Rescue and Retrieval Vehicle.
The Cebu delegation included Provincial Board Members Alfred Ouano, Mike Villamor, Raymond Calderon, Malcolm Sanchez, Dason Larenz Lagon, Lakambini Reluya, Paz Razgoni, Nelson Mondigo, and Nilo Seno, along with Provincial Administrator Atty. Ace Durano and other Capitol officials.
The visit formed part of the continued exchange of best practices between the neighboring provinces following the signing of the SugBohol Sisterhood Agreement, reinforcing cooperation in disaster risk reduction and emergency management for the benefit of both Bohol and Cebu.
