TAGBILARAN CITY — Bohol 3rd District Representative Alexie Besas-Tutor expressed support for several key priorities outlined by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. during his fifth State of the Nation Address (Sona), while reaffirming her commitment to advancing legislative measures that directly benefit Boholanos.
In a statement released following the President’s address on Monday, July 27, Besas-Tutor said the President was right in acknowledging that many Filipinos have yet to fully experience the benefits of government reforms despite the country’s economic resilience.
“The President was correct to highlight the struggles of our constituents, as the tangible fruits of government reform are yet to be fully felt by many on the ground,” she said.
Besas-Tutor also welcomed the administration’s emphasis on expanding the country’s international trade through its 23 active and pending free trade agreements. She noted that she recently participated in the Philippine Trade Policy Review in Geneva, Switzerland, where the country’s trade policies were assessed.
On the legislative front, the lawmaker said her priority remains addressing the immediate needs of Bohol.
She expressed optimism that the proposed amendment to the Charter of the Carlos P. Garcia State University (CHNM amendment) would be approved before the end of the 20th Congress, adding that she hopes the executive branch recognizes the urgency of the measure for the people of Bohol.
Besas-Tutor also renewed her call for the passage of a bill extending the validity of Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) identification cards from three years to five years, saying the measure would provide greater convenience and relief to Filipino professionals.
Marcos delivered his fifth Sona before a joint session of Congress on Monday, outlining his administration’s priorities on economic growth, social services, healthcare, infrastructure, education, and governance.
