PANGLAO, Bohol – Aboitiz InfraCapital Bohol Airport Corp. (ABAC) has selected Petron Corporation to build and operate a P340-million aviation fuel hub at the Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA), a major infrastructure project aimed at supporting the airport’s growing number of flights and passengers.
According to a report by Bilyonaryo, Petron, the country’s largest oil refiner, secured the exclusive rights to develop and manage the on-site aviation fuel depot after emerging as the winning bidder in a competitive selection process.
The project will include three fuel storage tanks with a combined capacity of 1,431 kiloliters. Construction is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2027 and will comply with internationally recognized Joint Inspection Group (JIG) standards for aviation fuel handling and safety.
ABAC General Manager Aldwin Uy said the agreement marks another significant step in the modernization of the Bohol-Panglao International Airport.
“This milestone agreement underscores our commitment to modernizing the Bohol-Panglao International Airport. By partnering with an industry leader like Petron, we are securing a resilient, world-class fuel infrastructure,” Uy said.
To ensure fair competition and competitive fuel pricing in the future, ABAC said it will implement an open-access model, regulating facility usage fees to prevent discrimination should additional fuel suppliers operate at the airport.
Meanwhile, Petron Vice President for Operations and Corporate Technical Services Jonathan F. Del Rosario said the company will leverage its extensive expertise to ensure the fuel facility meets the highest international standards.
“We are bringing our extensive operational expertise to BPIA, ensuring that the new fuel farm is built and operated in strict accordance with the latest Joint Inspection Group standards,” Del Rosario said.
ABAC has also formed a local management team based in Tagbilaran City to oversee the project’s construction and ensure that development remains on schedule.
The new aviation fuel hub is expected to strengthen airport operations, improve fuel supply reliability, and support the continued growth of tourism and air connectivity in Bohol.
