TAGBILARAN CITY — The Cebu Provincial Board has authorized Governor Pamela Baricuatro to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Province of Bohol for the implementation of the SugBohol Sisterhood Agreement, marking another step toward strengthening cooperation between the two neighboring provinces.
The resolution, approved during the Provincial Board’s regular session on Monday, July 20, authorizes the Cebu governor to formally enter into the partnership, which seeks to enhance collaboration in tourism, commerce, trade, business, economic development, and shared infrastructure.
The measure was authored by Provincial Board Member Malcolm Sanchez, who said the agreement aims to accelerate economic growth and regional development in Central Visayas through closer interprovincial cooperation.
The formal signing of the SugBohol Sisterhood Agreement is scheduled on July 31 in Bohol, where officials from both provinces are expected to finalize the partnership.
To oversee the implementation of the agreement, a Technical Working Group (TWG) will be created. The TWG will be composed of Provincial Board Members Stanley Caminero, Lakambini Reluya, Malcolm Sanchez, Nelson Mondigo, Raymond Calderon, and Sangguniang Panlalawigan Secretary Atty. Pulchra Marie Acevedo.
The resolution also reaffirms Cebu Province’s commitment to Joint Resolution No. 01-2024, adopted during the historic joint session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Cebu and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol in November 2024.
Provincial officials said the SugBohol partnership is anchored on the shared goal of expanding economic opportunities, boosting tourism, and strengthening regional integration in Central Visayas, particularly following the creation of the Negros Island Region.
