TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — Operations at Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA) were affected on Friday, July 10, after volcanic ash from Kanlaon Volcano prompted the cancellation of four Cebu Pacific flights.

Airport operator Aboitiz InfraCapital Bohol Airport Corporation (ABAC) said the canceled departures were DG 6957 bound for Davao and DG 6598 bound for Iloilo. Also canceled were arriving flights DG 6597 from Iloilo and DG 6956 from Davao.
ABAC advised passengers to coordinate with their respective airlines before proceeding to the airport, noting that flight schedules may continue to change depending on weather and volcanic ash conditions.

The airport operator also encouraged the public to wear face masks as a precaution against possible ash exposure.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Talibon has issued an ashfall advisory, urging residents to take precautionary measures following the moderately explosive eruption of Kanlaon Volcano on Thursday.

The MDRRMO advised residents to remain indoors as much as possible and to wear an N95 mask when going outside. If an N95 mask is unavailable, authorities recommend wearing two regular face masks or covering the nose and mouth with a clean, damp cloth to help reduce exposure to volcanic ash.
