TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — A farming family in San Miguel town has received a new home through the 122nd Libreng Alagad Ug Balay (LAB) Project, a housing initiative of the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) in partnership with the Balay sa Paglaum program.
The house was formally turned over on June 26 in Barangay Corazon, San Miguel, benefiting the family of Allen P. Auguis, 47, a farmer, and his wife, Marilyn, 50, who are raising their five children.
For years, the Aguis family struggled to make ends meet. Their modest income was only enough to cover daily necessities, leaving them unable to repair their deteriorating house, which had long exposed them to the elements during heavy rains.
Under the leadership of Police Colonel Patricio Degay Jr., BPPO Provincial Director, the LAB Project provided the family with a safe, sturdy, and comfortable home. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with Balay sa Paglaum, a personal advocacy of Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado and 3nd district Rep. Vanessa Aumentado.
The project was made possible through the combined efforts of the local government of San Miguel led by Mayor Ian Gil Garcia Mendez, the BPPO Police Community Affairs and Development Unit headed by Lt. Col. Joseph Berondo, the San Miguel Municipal Police Station under Capt. Elmer L. Canillo, the Barangay Corazon Council, barangay tanods, and volunteers who contributed their time and labor to complete the house.
The LAB Project is one of BPPO’s community outreach programs aimed at providing decent housing to indigent families while strengthening partnerships between the police, local government units, and the community.
