GUINDULMAN, Bohol — A 40-year-old wood vendor from Guindulman town is the latest beneficiary of the Bohol Police Provincial Office’s (BPPO) Libreng Alagad ug Balay (L.A.B.) Project, receiving a new home through a collaborative effort among the police, provincial government, and local officials.

The turnover of the house was held on Monday, June 22, 2026, marking the 119th housing unit completed under the L.A.B. Project, a community outreach initiative of the BPPO aimed at providing decent shelter to underprivileged Boholanos.

The project was implemented under the leadership of BPPO Provincial Director Col. Patricio Degay Jr. in partnership with Balay sa Paglaum, a personal advocacy of Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado and 2nd District Rep. Vanessa Aumentado.

The initiative also received support from the local government unit of Guindulman led by Mayor Jimmy Busano and the Guindulman Municipal Police Station headed by Capt. Kentbel Ceasar Parcon.

The beneficiary, Genaro Cellacy of Purok 3, Barangay Mayuga, had been living alone and earning a modest income by selling firewood.

His daily earnings were barely enough to cover his basic needs, leaving him unable to repair his makeshift home, which was severely damaged by Typhoon Odette in 2021.

For Cellacy, the new house fulfills a long-held dream and offers a fresh start after years of hardship.

Police officials said the project reflects a shared commitment among government agencies and local leaders to provide safe, comfortable, and dignified housing for disadvantaged residents.

Community cooperation

More than just a structure, the new home symbolizes hope, dignity, and the power of community cooperation, they added.

The BPPO said it remains committed not only to maintaining peace and order but also to extending assistance and hope to those in need through programs that create meaningful change in people’s lives.

“True police service is not measured solely by law enforcement, but also by the ability to uplift lives and strengthen communities,” the BPPO said.
