A joint inspection was conducted on Wednesday afternoon, June 17, at Bato Bridge in Barangay Cabawan, Maribojoc to assess the current condition of the damaged bridge approach.
The inspection team was led by Bohol Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) head Anthony Damalerio, together with Provincial Engineer Camilo Gasatan and Geologist Karl Din of the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO).
Based on the initial findings, the collapse of the bridge approach was attributed to soil subsidence, which caused the ground supporting the structure to gradually sink and become unstable.
Authorities continue to monitor the area and are working on appropriate engineering solutions to address the damage and ensure public safety.
Further assessments and recommendations are expected as part of the ongoing evaluation of the site.
