PANGLAO, Bohol — Marilou Resort (formerly Dumaluan Resort II) has appealed for a fair assessment of an incident involving a foreign national and one of its security personnel, saying online accounts circulating on social media may not reflect the complete facts surrounding the encounter.
In a statement, the resort management said it is aware of social media posts regarding the incident and stressed that resort personnel were carrying out routine security procedures applicable to a private establishment.
According to the resort, the male foreign national entered the property and proceeded further inside despite being courteously informed that the establishment was private and being asked to verify whether he was a registered guest.
Management said the foreign national identified his accommodation as “Room 15,” but resort personnel informed him that no such room exists at Marilou Resort. Despite this, he allegedly continued toward the restaurant area and declined to answer further questions regarding his presence on the premises.
The resort’s statement is consistent with a police blotter report filed by Ma. Nita Galero, which detailed the incident that occurred at around 12:50 p.m. at the resort.
The report stated that security guard Ryan Dale Sobretodo approached a male and female foreign national who had entered the property and asked whether they were checked-in guests. When the male foreign national allegedly claimed to be staying in “Room 15,” Sobretodo informed him that the resort had no room bearing that number and suggested that they may have entered the wrong establishment.
According to the report, the foreign national continued walking toward the restaurant area and refused to provide additional information regarding his identity or purpose for entering the resort.
The security guard reportedly attempted to verify the individual’s authority to remain on the premises. The report further alleged that the foreign national splashed water onto Sobretodo’s face before a brief physical struggle ensued.
Marilou Resort said witness accounts indicated that the foreign national had a visible bandage on his face before the incident occurred.
“The resort respectfully requests that the matter be assessed based on all relevant facts and witness accounts rather than on partial or unverified information,” management said.
The resort also rejected what it described as premature conclusions and misleading characterizations circulating online.
Marilou Resort said it is conducting its own review of the incident and will cooperate with authorities as necessary.
As of posting time, no statement from the foreign national involved had been made available. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain subject to investigation.
