TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — The absence of Board Member Tita Baja from a recent dinner gathering attended by 3rd District Rep. Alexie Besas-Tutor and three allied board members has fueled speculation of a possible political rift within Team Kumbati.

Questions were raised after Tutor posted photos on social media showing her with Board Members Nathaniel Binlod, Greg Jala, and DJ Balite during a dinner gathering on May 30.

The post carried the caption, “Bonding Night with Our Tersero BMs. Nagpabilin nga matinud-anon” (Remaining loyal).

The post quickly drew attention from supporters and political observers, with many asking why Baja, a longtime ally and fellow member of Team Kumbati during the last elections, was not among those present.

The development has also sparked renewed discussions about political alignments in Bohol’s 3rd District ahead of the 2028 elections.

Although she declined to discuss her political plans, Baja acknowledged that several options remain open to her in the future. These include seeking reelection as 3rd District board member, running for the congressional seat once Tutor’s term ends, or stepping away from politics altogether.

Baja has served in various positions throughout her political career, including councilor, mayor of Garcia-Hernandez, vice governor, acting governor, and senior board member.

Meanwhile, political observers have also mentioned Loay Mayor Hilario Ayuban as a possible figure who could strengthen Team Kumbati’s lineup as he approaches the end of his third and final term as mayor.

Remain Loyal
In an interview with the media, Baja admitted that she was hurt by Tutor’s post and its caption, saying she had also been part of Team Kumbati during the previous election campaign.

However, she emphasized that despite the controversy and speculation surrounding her relationship with the group, she remains committed to public service.

“I will remain loyal to the people I serve,” Baja said.

She added that while she was saddened by the message conveyed by the post, she respects whatever direction others may choose to take politically.
