TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — Faith, culture, and artistry took center stage as the provincial government of Bohol celebrated the Bohol Grand Santacruzan 2026 on May 30 at Plaza Rizal, transforming the traditional Flores de Mayo procession into a vibrant showcase of Boholano heritage and creativity.
The event, organized by the Provincial Government of Bohol through the Bohol Center for Culture and Arts Development (BCCAD) and the Bohol Arts and Cultural Heritage (BACH) Council Fashion Design Committee, formed part of the province-wide observance of National Heritage Month.
The cultural fashion spectacle gathered artists, designers, stylists, artisans, and cultural workers who reimagined the centuries-old Santacruzan tradition through elaborate couture creations inspired by biblical figures, Marian titles, and Filipino heritage.
A total of 33 Reynas and their escorts joined the grand procession, parading through Plaza Rizal in intricately designed ensembles that combined faith, history, and contemporary artistic expression.
Through visual storytelling, decorative arches, and performance art, the event elevated the traditional Santacruzan into a celebration of culture, devotion, and fashion.
In his opening message, BACH Council Fashion Design Committee Chairperson Shanon Pamaong emphasized the significance of preserving Filipino traditions, particularly among the younger generation.
“This is a good idea for our youth, especially for our Sagalas and escorts. It is deeply rooted in our religious faith,” Pamaong said, stressing the importance of reconnecting with cultural and religious traditions amid a rapidly changing modern world.
Governor Aris Aumentado commended the artists, designers, performers, organizers, and communities whose dedication contributed to the success of the event. He said their collective efforts help inspire Boholanos, particularly the youth, to appreciate their cultural heritage, nurture creativity, and take an active role in preserving the rich traditions and legacy that make Bohol unique.
Also present during the event were Jaime Antonio Jr., Philippine Development Specialist for Culture and Arts of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, and Emerson Pinos, head of BCCAD.
Prior to the main celebration, participants took part in an official photoshoot at Bellemar Panglao, highlighting the elegance of the costumes and underscoring the cultural significance of the annual tradition.
Among the featured queens were Rayna Banderada portrayed by Michaela Broadway in a creation by Rhigel Dulfo, Rayna Sheba portrayed by Atria Clair Acha in a design by Matthia Bridgeth, Rayna Ester portrayed by Ferjean Perez, Rayna Judith portrayed by Mischka, and Rayna Propeta portrayed by Catherine Woodley.
