TAGBILARAN CITY — The provincial government of Bohol officially launched the distribution of 10 kilos of rice to beneficiaries under the Rice Distribution Program on Thursday, May 14.

The program is being implemented through the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (OPSWD) in partnership with the local government unit of Panglao.

The initiative is funded through the National Government’s Local Government Support Fund–Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FA to LGUs), with a total allocation of P196 million.

Gov. Aris Aumentado thanked the agencies and local government units involved in the preparation and validation of beneficiaries, particularly the municipality of Panglao, for helping organize the list of recipients.

Provincial officials said the implementation follows existing program guidelines while aiming to help ease the burden of identified beneficiaries amid rising basic commodity costs.

The rice distribution program will also be expanded to other municipalities in the coming days as part of the province-wide rollout.
Under the program, beneficiaries are expected to receive assistance through four distribution cycles scheduled every two months.
