TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — Lawmakers in Bohol are consulting their constituents ahead of the scheduled May 11, 2026 plenary vote in the House of Representatives on the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Representative Vanessa “Van-Van” Aumentado said she has been consulting local officials, barangay leaders, and residents in the province’s second district before making her decision on the impeachment-related matter.

“With the coming voting on the impeachment issue this Monday, May 11, 2026, gusto lang nako madungog ang inyong mga opinyon, ilabina sa atong mga taga Segundo Distrito — YES or NO ba mo sa impeachment?” Aumentado said in a Facebook post.

She said consultations had already been conducted with mayors, barangay captains, and other constituents, although she acknowledged that not everyone could be reached.

“Karong higayona, gusto pod nato madungog ang tingog sa atong mga followers diri sa social media. Pwede mo mo-comment sa inyong boto, ug kung gusto ninyo, pwede pod ninyo i-explain ang inyong side,” she added.

Aumentado also appealed for civility in the discussion.

“Pero usa lang ka hangyo — dili ta maglalis, dili ta magbinastos. Respetoay lang ta sa tagsa-tagsa ka opinyon,” she said.

She assured constituents that she would listen to the sentiments of the majority.

“Rest assured, maminaw ko sa pulso sa kadaghanan,” Aumentado said.

The lawmaker also explained why she was only publicly consulting constituents now, saying previous developments in the impeachment proceedings moved quickly and lawmakers had limited time to seek public feedback.

Meanwhile, 1st district Representative Baba Yap also sought the opinions of his constituents and said he received varying responses.

“Inag abot sa paghatag sa akong decision, ang akong guide sa kanunay mao ang kaayohan sa atong Distrito ug direktang serbisyo sa mga katawhan, above everything else,” Yap said.

As of Friday, 3rd district Representative Alexie Besas-Tutor has yet to issue a public statement regarding her vote on the impeachment complaint.

The House of Representatives is expected to vote on May 11 on whether to formally impeach Duterte and transmit the complaint to the Senate for trial.

As of May 7, more than 215 members of the House have reportedly expressed support for the impeachment, exceeding the one-third vote requirement needed to elevate the complaint to the Senate.

Earlier, the House Committee on Justice unanimously approved the committee report and articles of impeachment on May 4 after hearings that found probable cause.

If approved by the House plenary, the Senate will convene as an impeachment court to try the case against the vice president.
