Tagbilaran’s ‘Kompra sa Tagbi’ pumps P600K daily into local economy

TAGBILARAN CITY — Around P600,000 is being infused daily into the local economy through Tagbilaran City’s food voucher program “Kompra sa Tagbi,” with about 3,000 vouchers redeemed each day since the household assistance rollout began on April 29, 2026.

The initiative, launched in response to rising food and fuel prices, targets 27,106 households, each receiving P1,000 worth of food vouchers distributed as five P200 stubs. These can be used at the Cogon Market, Dampas Central Public Market, and Manga Market.

Mayor Jane Yap said the steady rate of redemptions has effectively turned the program into a direct economic stimulus, boosting consumer spending in local markets while helping families cope with increasing living costs.

“This is concrete help for every family and for our economy,” Yap said. “The city government is putting money directly into the local economy, where it circulates within Tagbilaran, supports our market vendors, and benefits our farmers and fisherfolk across Bohol.”

The vouchers are being delivered door-to-door, with one representative per household required to present a valid government ID and sign a claim form prepared by barangay personnel. Distribution is scheduled in two windows daily—from 5:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The city has also released its barangay distribution schedule: April 28 (Poblacion 1); April 29 (Mansasa); April 30 (Cabawan); May 2 (San Isidro); May 3 (Poblacion 3); May 4 (Ubujan); May 5 (Bool); May 6 (Taloto); May 7 (Tiptip); May 8 (Manga); May 9 (Booy); May 10 (Dampas); May 11 (Dao); May 12 (Poblacion 2); and May 13 (Cogon).

Households that miss the house-to-house distribution may still claim their vouchers at the BACU office on the ground floor of City Hall from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Yap emphasized that each redeemed voucher not only puts food on the table but also sustains livelihoods across the supply chain.

“Every voucher used means help for a family, a vendor, a farmer, and a fisherman. This is service that can be seen and felt,” she added.

City officials noted that the consistent volume of claims in recent days highlights both the strong demand for assistance and the program’s role in sustaining local commerce amid ongoing economic pressures.
