TAGBILARAN CITY — Bohol is expected to experience scorching temperatures of up to 39°C on Saturday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In its latest forecast issued Friday at 5 p.m., Pagasa said several areas across the country are nearing or already within the “danger” level of the heat index. Dumangas and Butuan City are expected to reach a heat index of 45°C, a level considered hazardous to human health.
At least 12 other areas nationwide may also hit the danger threshold, the state weather bureau added.
Pagasa warned that prolonged exposure to extreme heat can cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion, and may lead to heat stroke in severe cases. Authorities are urging the public to limit outdoor activities, stay hydrated, and take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
The following are the affected areas:
44°C: Borongan, Eastern Samar; La Granja, La Carlota, Negros Occidental
43°C: San Ildefonso, Bulacan; Iloilo City, Iloilo; Catbalogan, Western Samar; Cotabato City, Maguindanao del Norte
42°C: VSU-Baybay, Leyte; Guiuan, Eastern Samar; Mambusao, Capiz; Roxas City, Capiz; Aborlan, Palawan; Sangley Point, Cavite City
Meanwhile, Pagasa said that the following areas are placed under the extreme caution, where heat indices range from 33°C to 41°C:
