DAGOHOY, Bohol — Local officials on Friday, April 17, 2026, led the groundbreaking of the P43.8-million Expansion and Upgrading of the Dagohoy Waterworks System – Level III project in Barangay Mahayag, marking a major step toward improving water access across the town.

Mayor Sofronio “Moloy” Apat spearheaded the ceremony alongside municipal officials, with Governor Aris Aumentado and Second District Representative Vanessa Aumentado in attendance.

Marlene Revelo of ESR Construction and Development Corporation also joined the event.

The project aims to expand the town’s existing waterworks system, which currently serves 2,233 consumers across nine barangays.

The system is capable of covering only 11 of Dagohoy’s 15 barangays, as four upland villages remain difficult to reach due to their mountainous terrain.

Apat emphasized the urgency of the project, noting that improvements are necessary to ensure that all barangays benefit from a reliable water supply.

“There is a need because water is life,” he said.

Water resource development

Governor Aumentado, for his part, expressed support for local government initiatives that strengthen water resource development.

He said the provincial government backs municipalities pursuing projects that provide long-term benefits to their constituents.

Funded through the local government’s 20 percent development fund, the project carries a total cost of P43,896,000.

Revelo said construction will commence once all required permits and documents are secured, with completion expected within eight months.
