Tropical Storm ‘Ramil’ slows down east of Sorsogon

MANILA — Tropical Storm Ramil (international name: Fengshen) slightly slowed down as it moved west-northwestward over the sea east of Sorsogon on Saturday morning, October 18, according to Pagasa.

As of 7 a.m., the storm’s center was located 260 km east of Juban, Sorsogon, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h and gusts of up to 80 km/h. It was moving west-northwest at 15 km/h.

Signal No. 2 is raised over Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, northern Camarines Sur, and Polillo Islands, while Signal No. 1 is up in parts of Northern and Central Luzon, Bicol, and Eastern Visayas.

Pagasa warned of heavy rains, gale-force winds, and possible storm surges up to two meters along the eastern seaboards. Ramil may make landfall or pass close to Catanduanes later today and could reach severe tropical storm strength before hitting land.

The public is advised to take precautionary measures and stay alert for further advisories.
