PANGLAO, Bohol — Authorities on Thursday, April 9, pushed through with the demolition of a resort gate in Barangay Bolod despite objections from management, resulting in brief tension and injuries.
The operation stemmed from the enforcement of a Writ of Mandamus ordering the removal of structures at Marilou Resort, which the local government said were obstructing a barangay road.
Mayor Edgardo Arcay led the demolition, joined by the municipal team and police officers deployed to maintain order during the operation.
Disagreements surfaced between the resort’s legal counsel and the Provincial Legal Office (PLO), particularly on whether the gate was included in the court order. While the guard house was dismantled without incident, discussions turned heated as authorities moved to include the gate.

Resort officials argued that they had obtained an injunction and sought to delay the demolition until Friday to clarify the scope of the order. The request, however, was denied.
Provincial Legal Officer Handel Lagunay maintained that the gate constituted a road obstruction and should be removed in compliance with the court directive.
Tensions escalated when some resort staff tried to stop the demolition, leading to a brief commotion. At least three individuals were reported injured.
Despite the ongoing dispute and appeal for postponement, authorities proceeded with the operation, ultimately dismantling the gate.
