TAGBILARAN CITY — The Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) has issued a strong warning against illegal “tukis” operations, stressing that offenders will be arrested and face criminal charges.
Polic Major Rey Olar, public information officer of the BPPO, said the directive came from Provincial Director Patricio Degay Jr. to intensify the campaign against illegal gambling, particularly during Holy Week when such activities tend to increase.
“Arrests are certain, and there will be no leniency,” Olar emphasized, noting that those caught engaging in “tukis” could face prosecution and possible imprisonment.
Authorities reiterated that “tukis” is strictly prohibited under the law and has no authorized permits, leaving no legal cover for individuals who continue to engage in the activity.
The BPPO also urged the public to report any suspected illegal gambling operations in their communities to enable immediate police action and apprehension of violators.
Olar further warned that individuals arrested during the Holy Week period may face extended detention, as courts will resume operations on Monday, delaying the processing of bail.
Police assured that operations will be heightened across the province to curb illegal activities and maintain peace and order during the observance of Holy Week.
