TAGBILARAN CITY — Authorities have conducted a citywide inspection of pharmacies as part of heightened efforts to ensure public safety following concerns over alleged fake rabies vaccines.

The inspection on Monday was led by City Health Officer Dr. Jeia Pondoc, in coordination with the Department of Health (DOH), Philippine National Police (PNP), and other regulatory and law enforcement agencies.

Out of the 88 pharmacies registered with the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO), four establishments were found to have already ceased operations.

City officials said the initiative forms part of a strengthened campaign to ensure that all vaccines being administered are properly registered, legitimate, and compliant with existing regulations, especially amid the ongoing issue involving suspected counterfeit rabies vaccines.

Authorities warned that strict penalties await violators, including the immediate revocation of business permits and permanent blacklisting from operating within Tagbilaran City.

“Tagbilaran will act. There will be no leniency for those who endanger public health,” Mayor Jane Yap said.

Monitoring and inspections are expected to continue in the coming days.
