TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — Governor Aris Aumentado has ordered a comprehensive inspection and investigation into rabies vaccines being used in animal bite treatment facilities across the province.

In an official advisory, Aumentado said the responsibility has been assigned to the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV) to ensure the safety, quality, and reliability of vaccines administered in both government-run Animal Bite Treatment Centers (ABTCs) and privately operated Animal Bite Centers (ABCs).

The governor directed the two offices to examine the source and quality of rabies vaccines, review storage and handling procedures, validate vaccination records, and investigate any reported complaints or incidents related to the vaccines.

“The public health and safety of Boholanos remain our top priority,” Aumentado emphasized.

He assured the public that the findings of the investigation will be disclosed once a thorough review has been completed.

Amid the probe, the provincial government clarified that all rabies vaccines supplied by the Department of Health and procured by the provincial government underwent proper bidding procedures. These included strict requirements such as a License to Operate (LTO) for distributors and a Certificate of Product Registration (CPR) corresponding to the vaccine lot numbers to ensure safety and efficacy.

The vaccines in question are those currently being used in ABTCs located in province-owned hospitals.

Authorities urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with concerned agencies while the investigation is ongoing.

The provincial government also thanked residents for their continued trust and cooperation.
