15-year-old boy dies from electrocution while charging phone in Carmen town

TAGBILARAN CITY — A 15-year-old boy died after being electrocuted while charging his cellphone in Sitio Centro, Barangay El Salvador, in the town of Carmen on Monday afternoon, March 23.

The victim was identified as Jhon Cloma.

According to a report, the incident occurred while the teenager was inside their home charging his mobile phone.

The Carmen Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) immediately responded after receiving the alert.

Upon arrival, rescuers found the victim already unconscious.
Emergency responders administered full oxygen support and performed 40 cycles of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in an attempt to revive him.

Despite the prompt medical intervention, the victim was declared dead.

Initial information indicated that the cellphone charger plugged into a power source is believed to have caused the electrocution.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
