TAGBILARAN CITY — Police authorities in Bohol have launched an investigation into a viral video showing an alleged kidnapping incident in Barangay Dao, Tagbilaran City.
In an official statement issued Thursday, the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO), under the leadership of provincial director Patricio C. Degay Jr., said a thorough investigation is underway to determine the circumstances behind the incident captured on video on March 11.
The video, which circulated widely on social media, has sparked concern and alarm among residents, prompting police to prioritize efforts to verify the authenticity of the reported incident.
According to the latest report from the Philippine National Police station in Tagbilaran City as of Thursday morning, authorities have not received any formal complaint or official report of a kidnapping linked to the video.
Despite the absence of a formal complaint, investigators have begun reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from establishments near the scene to gather additional evidence.

Authorities are likewise attempting to contact the person who uploaded the video, as well as tricycle drivers and other individuals who may have witnessed the incident, to obtain their official statements and clarify what actually transpired.
Meanwhile, the BPPO urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information about the incident, warning that it could cause unnecessary fear and panic in the community.
Police also encouraged anyone who may have witnessed a similar incident or who has relevant information to immediately report it to authorities to ensure a prompt response and the possible arrest of those responsible.
The Bohol police assured the public that they remain committed to maintaining peace, order, and security throughout the province.
