The Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc. (AIC) is set to assume operations and maintenance of the Bohol-Panglao International Airport, which will be the third airport in its portfolio.
This after the bidding process concluded without any challengers, Department of Transportation (DoTr).
Rhe DoTR said during Monday’s bid opening no other companies submitted proposals, effectively securing the project for Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc. which the P4.53-billion contract for the operations and maintenance of the New Bohol-Panglao International Airport will be awarded to the company.
“No challenge has been submitted by any challenger during the comparative challenge period for this project,” Transportation Undersecretary Timothy John R. Batan, who chairs the pre-qualification bids and awards committee.
AIC has original proponent status for the project. The company, which also manages Mactan-Cebu International Airport, secured the Laguindingan project in partnership with daa International, an Irish state-owned company, serving as Technical Services Advisor.
Once finalized, the project aims to position the Bohol-Panglao International Airport as a key regional hub in line with the National Tourism Development Plan and the government’s flagship infrastructure projects.
As part of the process, Batan said the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines will hold a Special Board Meeting on Friday, 15 November to discuss the development.
The bids and awards committee meanwhile is expected to submit its official recommendation by 18 November.
As per the DoTr’s schedule, the notice of award to the winning bidder will be issued on Nov. 28, and the official handover of the airport’s operations and maintenance to the private operator will take place on June 22, 2025.
The Bohol-Panglao International Airport, or the New Bohol Airport, is set to accommodate two million passengers yearly.
