TAGBILARAN CITY — The Republic of Poland has inaugurated its first honorary consulate in Bohol, marking a step toward stronger diplomatic, cultural and economic ties between the Polish government and the province.
Bohol Gov. Erico Aristotle “Aris” Aumentado said it is a great honor for the province to host the honorary consulate.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Poland’s ambassador to the Philippines, Her Excellency Katarzyna Wilkowiecka, and Consul Sebastian Marek Kmita of the Polish Embassy.
Aumentado said the establishment of the honorary consulate opens opportunities for deeper friendship and active collaboration between Bohol and Poland, particularly in tourism, education, economy and cultural exchanges.
Local officials, including members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, representatives from Bohol’s three congressional districts, the Tagbilaran City government, and other stakeholders, also attended the event.
Zarah Socorro Jao-Dejaresco was appointed as the Honorary Consul of Poland in Bohol.
Provincial officials expressed optimism that the new consulate will help strengthen ties and expand cooperation between Bohol and Poland in the coming years.
