Suganob scores 8th-round TKO, hands Baleni first career defeat in ‘Kumong Bol-anon 24’

TAGBILARAN CITY — Former world title challenger Regie “The Filipino Phenom” Suganob delivered a dominant performance, stopping fellow ex-world title contender Siphamandla “Toytoy” Baleni via technical knockout in the eighth round during “Kumong Bol-anon 24” on Saturday night, Feb. 28.

The action-packed bout, held in this city, saw Suganob take control in the later rounds, unleashing a relentless offensive that forced the referee to halt the contest in the eighth canto.

The defeat marked the first loss in Baleni’s professional boxing career, ending his previously unblemished record.

Following the victory, Suganob expressed his desire to face Puerto Rican boxer Reñe Santiago in his next outing, signaling his intent to climb back into world title contention.
