TAGBILARAN CITY — After losing their home to the devastation of Typhoon Odette in 2021 and facing personal hardship a year later, 39-year-old solo mother Evelyn Golosinda Estrera has finally found a place she and her five children can call their own.

On Saturday, February 21, 2026, the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) formally turned over a newly constructed house to Estrera in Purok Gumamela, Barangay San Miguel, Dagohoy, under its Libreng Alagad ug Balay (LAB) Project.

The home was built through the flagship housing program Balay sa Paglaum, made possible by the support of Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado and Rep. Vanessa Aumentado, who personally funded the construction.

The initiative was further backed by the local government of Dagohoy led by Mayor Sofronio Apat and facilitated by the Dagohoy Municipal Police Station, reflecting a strong partnership among provincial leaders, local officials, and law enforcement.

For Evelyn and her children—Hannilyn, Lovely Mae, Angel Grace, Prince Darell, and Michael James—the new house symbolizes security and a fresh start after years of uncertainty following the destruction of their modest hut.

Present during the turnover ceremony were Aumentado couple, BPPO officials and municipal and village officials of Dagohoy.

BPPO Provincial Director Col. Patricio Degay Jr. underscored that the police force’s mission to “serve and protect” goes beyond maintaining peace and order.

He said it also means extending compassion and concrete assistance to vulnerable families by helping provide safe and decent shelter.

With the continued collaboration of stakeholders, BPPO vowed to sustain the LAB Project and reach more families in need—building a more resilient Bohol, one home at a time.
