TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — The Bohol Medical Society (BMS) has raised serious concerns over the proliferation of clinics operated by non-physicians, warning that these establishments pose significant risks to public health.

According to the BMS, several clinics—ranging from aesthetics centers, chiropractic and bone-setting services, to mental health clinics—are actively advertising their services on conventional and social media platforms without proper regulation. These clinics reportedly diagnose patients, prescribe medications, and perform medical procedures, actions that are clear violations of Philippine law.

“Health is a basic human right that must always be upheld. The illegal practice of medicine must be curbed to protect the general public,” the BMS said in a statement issued on February 3, 2026.

It added: “In any unregulated practice, there is no accountability for mistakes or complications, which can severely impact the quality of life of patients.”

The medical society urged the public to verify the credentials of healthcare providers and to always ask for a valid Physician PRC license before undergoing any treatment.

The BMS emphasized that this statement is part of its ongoing responsibility to educate the community and safeguard the health and well-being of the people of Bohol.

“Always ensure your health is in the hands of licensed professionals,” the society reminded residents.
