PANGALAO, Bohol — The local government unit of Panglao has moved the reopening of Puntod Island, popularly known as Virgin Island, to Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from the originally announced date of February 2.

In an advisory, the Panglao LGU said the adjustment is intended to allow final verification and coordination at the regional level, ensuring that all conservation protocols, safety measures, and sustainable tourism guidelines are fully in place ahead of the island’s reopening.

Authorities thanked the public for their patience and cooperation, emphasizing that the brief delay is part of efforts to guarantee a smooth, orderly, and responsible reopening of one of Panglao’s most visited tourist destinations following its environmental rehabilitation.

Virgin Island has been closed for more than a year to allow for ecological recovery and the implementation of stricter management measures aimed at protecting its fragile marine and coastal environment.
