DAUIS, Bohol — Alarm and concern spread among motorists after a young child was found alone along a national highway in Dauis, Bohol on Tuesday afternoon, January 27, 2026.
Witnesses said the male child was seen standing by the roadside in Barangay Tabalong at around 2 p.m., prompting passing motorists to stop out of fear for the child’s safety amid heavy traffic.

Witnesses said that the child’s parents arrived shortly afterward and took custody of the child.
Initial reports indicated that the parents had been involved in an argument prior to the incident. The child’s mother was said to have quietly taken the child when they arrived at the scene.
The incident sparked outrage online, with many netizens calling on the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to locate and summon the parents to hold them accountable and ensure proper guidance on responsible parenting.
The local government of Dauis, in coordination with DSWD-Dauis, has announced that it will conduct an investigation into the incident.
