TAGBILARAN CITY- Two brothers, both minors and high school students, were killed after the motorcycle they were riding collided with an oncoming panel truck along a national highway in Barangay Ilihan, Tubigon, Bohol, on Tuesday morning, January 27.
The victims, aged 14 and 13, were reportedly on their way to school when the accident occurred.
Based on the initial police report, the motorcycle was being driven by the younger brother, with his older sibling riding as a passenger. While traveling toward their school, the motorcycle allegedly attempted to overtake a tricycle. In the process, the driver failed to notice an oncoming panel truck traveling in the opposite direction, resulting in a head-on collision.
Due to the strong impact, the older brother died on the spot. The younger brother was rushed to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities said the victims were reportedly in a hurry because they had an examination at school. It was also noted that neither of the brothers was wearing a protective helmet at the time of the accident.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
