Guimbawan Festival draws crowd in Batuan, honors Sto. Niño

BATUAN, Bohol — The town of Batuan came alive on Sunday, January 25, as residents and visitors celebrated the Guimbawan Festival, one of the town’s major cultural events held in honor of the Sto. Niño.

The festival featured colorful street performances, vibrant costumes, and lively productions showcasing the devotion, creativity, and cultural pride of participating schools and barangays.

In the School Category, Saint Anthony Academy dominated the competition, winning Champion, as well as Best in Costume and Best in Production Design. Batuan Colleges Incorporated finished as 1st runner-up.

In the Barangay Category, Barangay Rizal emerged as Champion, followed by Barangay Quezon as 1st runner-up and Barangay Cantigdas as 2nd runner-up.

For the Festival Queens competition, Barangay Rizal also won Best in Costume. Barangay Cabacnitan placed 2nd runner-up, while Barangay Rizal secured 1st runner-up honors.

The title of Guimbawan Festival Queen 2026 was awarded to Saint Anthony Academy.

Local officials said the successful celebration reflected the town’s strong faith and unity, as the Guimbawan Festival continues to promote Batuan’s culture, devotion, and tourism.
