TAGBILARAN CITY — A 61-year-old man from Barangay Tubod, Candijay town in Bohol was arrested after police discovered that he was a wanted person while he was applying for a National Police Clearance at the Candijay Municipal Police Station on Friday, January 23, 2026.
Police said the suspect’s identity was flagged by the National Police Clearance System (NPCS) through its E-Warrant feature, which showed that he had a standing warrant of arrest.
The arrest was carried out by virtue of a warrant issued by Presiding Judge Felino Zabala Elefante of the Regional Trial Court, National Capital Judicial Region, Branch 103 in Quezon City, for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The case involves possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165, Article II, Section 11, docketed as Criminal Case No. R-QZN-19-05650-CR, dated April 3, 2025.
Police said the incident highlighted the effectiveness of the National Police Clearance System in tracking wanted persons nationwide, noting that the system has become a vital tool in law enforcement and the campaign against criminality.
Candijay Police Chief Capt. Marvin Chin emphasized that the station continues to intensify anti-criminality and law enforcement operations to ensure public safety and security in the municipality. He also urged the public to actively cooperate with authorities by reporting information about wanted individuals.
“The active cooperation of the community in providing timely and accurate information plays a crucial role in keeping Candijay a safe place to live, work, and do business,” Chin said in a statement.
