TAGBILARAN CITY — A young man was injured after he was shot in an alleged love triangle incident near his residence in Purok 6, Barangay Bongbong, Ubay town, Bohol, at around 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, January 17.
The victim was identified as Nico Olaer Miano, 20, single, unemployed, and a resident of the area.
Police identified the suspect as Michael Cadorniga Boaquin, 28, single, a fighting cock caretaker, and a native resident of Purok 6, Barangay Hambabauran, Ubay, Bohol.
Based on the investigation conducted by the Ubay Municipal Police Station, the victim was at the back of their house when he was suddenly shot by the suspect using a firearm reportedly used for bird hunting.
The victim sustained a minor grazing wound on the left side of his chest and was immediately given medical attention.
After the incident, the suspect fled the scene carrying the firearm used in the shooting.
Initial police investigation revealed that the motive behind the shooting was an alleged love triangle, as the suspect is reportedly in a relationship with the victim’s former live-in partner.
Police also disclosed that prior to the shooting, the victim’s father, Agripino Vallente Miano, and the suspect figured in a heated argument during a drinking session.
The Ubay Police Station has launched a manhunt operation to locate and arrest the suspect, who remains at large.
