TAGBILARAN CITY — Bohol has once again earned national recognition after securing a spot among the Top 10 Provinces for exemplary infrastructure governance at the 2025 SubayBAYANI Awards, marking its second consecutive appearance on the prestigious list.
Gov. Aris Aumentado received the LGU Exemplar Award on behalf of the provincial Government of Bohol during the national awarding ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at The Manila Hotel. The event, led by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), was attended by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
In its official citation, the DILG lauded Bohol for its “unwavering dedication to good governance and innovative infrastructure development,” emphasizing the province’s adherence to transparency, accountability, and efficient service delivery.
Bohol’s back-to-back inclusion in 2024 and 2025 highlights its continued discipline and strong institutional performance in managing and monitoring infrastructure projects.
Aumentado, in a Facebook post, said the award reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring proper implementation and strict monitoring of all infrastructure initiatives.
“Ilhanan kini nga nakita sa nasudnong panggamhanan ang atong mga paningkamot alang sa insaktong pagpatuman sa mga infrastructure projects, kauban ang striktong pagmonitor sa maong mga proyekto,” he said.
The governor credited the achievement to the collaborative work of the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) under OIC-Provincial Engineer Evelyn Ayuban, the Road Sector Committee, and the oversight of provincial administrator Asteria Caberte.

The SubayBAYANI Awards is the DILG’s premier recognition program for outstanding performance in implementing Locally-Funded Projects (LFPs) tracked through the SubayBAYAN Portal — the national system for monitoring, reporting, and validating infrastructure projects. LGUs undergo stringent screening, including field validation and reviews of transparency, fund utilization, timeliness, and community impact.
Despite governance challenges nationwide, DILG officials said provinces like Bohol stand out as models of accountability and effective project management, demonstrating how disciplined delivery can uplift communities.
In his message, Marcos congratulated the awardees and urged them to continue proving that public trust in government is well-placed.
“We strive for excellence because that is what our citizens deserve, and that is what our country deserves,” the President said.
The provincial government of Bohol reiterated its commitment to pursue infrastructure programs that directly improve the lives of Boholanos, guided by transparency, rigorous monitoring, and long-term development planning.
