The provincial government of Bohol (PGBh) officially launched its Christmas initiative, One SugBohol: “TINO-od nga Pasko, UWAN sa Gugma” on Monday, November 10, during the flag-raising ceremony — a unified effort to extend compassion and deliver assistance to communities affected by Typhoon Tino in Cebu.

The launch was followed by a Holy Mass held at the New Capitol Building lobby, presided over by Diocesan Administrator Rev. Fr. Gerardo Saco, Jr. The Eucharistic celebration served as a spiritual offering for those affected by the recent calamity and was attended by department heads and Capitol employees, led by Gov. Aris Aumentado.

In his message, Aumentado said that Bohol’s neighbor-province Cebu had been hardly hit by Typhoon Tino, with thousands of families left homeless and in dire need of food, water, medicines, clothing, and temporary shelter.

“It is in this light that we are launching today the One SugBohol: TINO-OD nga Pasko, UWAN sa Gugma: a Provincial Government-led Christmas Initiative for Tino and Uwan Affected Communities,” he said.

“Sugod karong adlawa hangtod sa Huwebes, atong ablihan ang Kapitolyo sa tanang Boholano nga gustong moduyog kanato niining maong paningkamot,” he added.

As part of the initiative, the Capitol will also deploy an 11-member team from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS) to Danao City, Cebu, from November 14 to 17, 2025.

The team will provide Mental Health PsychoSocial Support and Psychological First Aid to individuals and families affected by Typhoon Tino. Equipped with its own logistics, the team will operate independently throughout the four-day mission to extend compassion, emotional care, and healing to affected communities.

As for Boholanos who wish to donate in cash or in kind, they may drop off their donations at the Public Assistance and Complaint Desk (PACD) located at the Ground Floor Lobby of the New Provincial Capitol Building.

The Provincial Human Resource and Management Development Office (PHRMDO) is spearheading the donation drive.

According to PHRMDO Head Dr. Anne Mariquit Oppus, the provincial government will accept donations until 5 PM on Thursday, November 13. The donations will then be brought to Cebu on Friday, November 14.

“On behalf of the Provincial Government of Bohol, we encourage all our friends, relatives, or those who have kind hearts, this is the season to share. In the words of the governor, ’TINO-od nga Pasko, UWAN sa Gugma’,” she said.

The Capitol remains steadfast in its commitment to support Boholanos and all Filipinos in times of adversity — reaching out beyond provincial borders to bring hope and solidarity to those in need.

This initiative aligns with the Capitol’s Strategic Governance Roadmap, reflecting its mission to promote responsive, compassionate, and inclusive governance. (PIMO/JFP/JSB)
