TAGBILARAN CITY – Dozens of families from island barangays off Getafe town, Bohol about 90 kilometers from this city, have evacuated to the mainland on Sunday as the province braces for the impact of Severe Tropical Storm Tino (international name: Kalmaegi).

Getafe Mayor Cary Camacho confirmed the voluntary evacuation in a Facebook post, saying residents left their homes early to avoid being stranded once sea conditions worsen.

As of Sunday afternoon, at least 66 families—or about 267 individuals including children, elderly, and women—were taking temporary shelter at the municipal evacuation center.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has placed Bohol under Signal No. 1, warning of possible strong winds and heavy rains starting Monday evening.

Governor Erico Aristotle “Aris” Aumentado earlier ordered the suspension of classes in all public and private schools on Monday, November 3, as a preemptive measure. The decision came after an emergency meeting of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) on Sunday.

Aumentado said the province remains on alert and ready for the possible effects of Tino, which may bring floods, landslides, and rough seas in northern Bohol towns.
