Lite Ferries crew dies after vessel docks in Tubigon

TUBIGON, BOHOL — A crew member of a Lite Ferries vessel died shortly after their ship docked at the port of Tubigon, according to a report from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

The victim, identified as the vessel’s clearing officer, was found unconscious and later declared dead at the hospital. Authorities have yet to release the victim’s name pending notification of the family.

Initial reports said the ship’s captain immediately called for assistance after the crew member was found unresponsive while resting. Responders from the Tubigon Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (MDRRM) team rushed to the scene and brought the victim to the Tubigon Community Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival by Dr. Maria Cindy Estose.

The cause of death has yet to be determined as authorities continue to investigate the incident.
