LILA, Bohol — A housing advocacy program of 3rd District Representative Alexie Besas-Tutor has marked another milestone with the turnover of its 244th house to a beneficiary in Barangay Malinao West, Lila town.

The latest recipient, Elmer Tagadiad of Purok 3, Malinao West, received the simple home under the long-running Pabahay initiative, which has been quietly building and donating houses to the most vulnerable families in the province.

Tutor said the program, which began nearly a decade ago, continues to grow despite limited resources.

“Bisan hinay-hinay ra ning atong programa, wala ra hibaw-e mag usa ka dekada nata niining personal namo nga advocacy,” shared Tutor who’s behind the initiative.

She emphasized that while much has already been achieved, the need for decent housing remains great in Bohol.

“Sa kadugay nato ni nga gihimo, daghan gihapon ang nanginahanglan. Mao nga unta daghan pod puhon ang mubuhat pa ug ingani nga programa,” she added, calling on others to replicate and expand the effort.

To qualify for the Pabahay program, beneficiaries must meet several criteria: they must be among the poorest and most in need, have their own land, and preferably be married with children. Selection is done in coordination with the local barangay council, with special cases also considered.

The turnover in Lila highlights the sustained impact of the initiative in providing hope and shelter to underprivileged families, one home at a time.
