PANGLAO – Two identified high-value individuals (HVIs) were arrested in a successful anti-drug operation conducted by combined forces of the Bohol Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Panglao Police Station, and PDEA-Bohol on Wednesday morning, July 30.
The buy-bust operation took place at 7:15 a.m. in Purok 1, Barangay Bil-isan, Panglao. Authorities confiscated an estimated 80 grams of suspected shabu valued at P544,000, along with a 9mm pistol with one live round.
The arrested suspects are William Guirit, 42, unemployed man and former Philippine Army member, dismissed from service, residing in Brgy. Poblacion, Panglao; and Oliver Cuaco, 45, unemployed resident of Brgy. Looc, Panglao.
Police also recovered a cellphone, buy-bust money, a sling bag, and a motorcycle believed to have been used for transporting illegal drugs.
The operation was led by Lt. Noubell Padernal under the supervision of Lt. Col. Joemar Pomarejos, PIU/PDEU chief.
The suspects are now in police custody and will face charges for violating Sections 5, 11, and 26(b) of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act 10591 (Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
