TAGBILARAN CITY, BOHOL — Sandugo 2025 marks a historic milestone today, July 27, with 12 contingents joining the street dancing and grand showdown.

The annual celebration, which honors Bohol’s rich history and vibrant cultural identity, has doubled its participants from just six last year to 12 this year, making Sandugo 2025 the largest and grandest edition in the festival’s history.

The event kicks off this afternoon at 3 p. m. with street dancing beginning at Plaza Rizal, moving along Carlos P. Garcia Avenue, and culminating in a grand showdown at the CPG Sports Complex.

“We are witnessing a record-breaking Sandugo this year—not just in terms of contingents, but also in scale, production value, and community support,” said Emerson Pinos, head of the Center for Culture and Arts Development (CCAD).

Each contingent received a P1 million subsidy from the Provincial Government, enabling them to deliver elevated performances with enhanced choreography, costumes, music, and overall production.

Representing Bohol’s diverse towns—from coastal areas to upland communities—the 12 contingents are:

-Pundok sa Nagkahiusang Tagbilaranon (Tagbilaran City)

-Tribu Ambacon (Getafe)

-Pundok sa Nagkahiusang Kabatan-onang Mananayaw sa Baclayon (Baclayon)

-Hiyas Quinale (Anda)

-Banay sa Kulturang Dimiaonon (Dimiao)

-Tribu Tumindok Piarnon (Pilar)

-Tribu Hamiling Sang-at (Valencia)

-Hugpong sa Bulawanong Tubignon (Tubigon)

-Lumad Sagbayanon (Sagbayan)

These groups are expected to showcase a spectacular mix of creativity, cultural pride, and storytelling, reflective of Bohol’s diverse heritage and its recognition as the Philippines’ first and only Unesco Global Geopark.

In line with the scale of participation, Sandugo 2025 also boasts the highest cash prizes in festival history:

Grand Champion – P1 million + trophy

2nd Runner-Up – P700,000 + trophy

3rd Runner-Up – P600,000 + trophy
