LOAY, BOHOL — A 50-year-old van dispatcher was arrested in Barangay Hinawanan, Loay, Bohol on Tuesday evening, July 2, 2025, for allegedly engaging in illegal swertres operations.
The suspect, identified as Romeo Despues, married and a resident of Poblacion Ibabao, Loay, was caught in flagrante delicto issuing number stubs and collecting bets for the illegal numbers game.
Police arrested the suspect at around 8:40 p.m. while conducting their routine patrol.
Confiscated from Despues were several items believed to be used in the illegal operation, including: stubs, handwritten stub with number combinations, ballpen, a carbon paper and a ₱50 bill.
Despues will face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9287, which increases the penalties for illegal numbers games, amending certain provisions of Presidential Decree No. 1602.
The suspect is currently detained at the Loay Police Station for proper disposition.
