INABANGA, BOHOL — Outgoing Mayor Jono Jumamoy left a heartfelt message for incoming mayor Dexter Ancla, urging him to serve the town with sincerity, compassion, and unwavering dedication.

Ancla defeated Jumamoy last May 12 elections, ending the 42 years of Jumamoy dynasty.

In a personal letter addressed to Ancla, Jumamoy extended his congratulations and shared his reflections on serving as mayor of Inabanga—an experience he described as one of the greatest honors of his life.

“I walked into this office with youthful ideals and I walk out with a heart full of memories—of triumphs and trials, of tears and laughter, of countless stories that shaped our beloved town,” Jumamoy wrote. “The journey wasn’t always easy, but it was always worth it, because it was always for our people.”

He acknowledged the weight of the position, reminding Ancla that the role comes with both pressure and purpose.

“It will stretch your limits, test your convictions, and ask you to make decisions that weigh heavily,” he said. “But it will also reward you with the chance to build something meaningful, to touch lives in unseen ways, and to lead a community that is rich in hope, heart, and resilience.”

Jumamoy’s message ended with an earnest appeal for Ancla to embrace his new responsibility with both humility and courage.

“Love this town as deeply as I have. Listen to its people. Protect its soul. Lead with humility and courage,” he said.

Jumamoy’s tenure as mayor was marked by numerous development initiatives and a focus on community-based leadership. His departure marks the beginning of a new chapter for Inabanga under the leadership of Ancla.
