Bohol Muslims gather for Eid’l Fitr, end of Ramadan

Muslims in Bohol trooped early to Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Sports Complex on Monday, March 31 to mark Eid’l Fitr, the end of the month-long fasting or Ramadan.

At past 6 a.m., more than 1,000 Muslims were already at the sports complex to take part in prayers and the program that was set to start at 7 a.m.

Those who celebrated the Eid’l Fitr came from Panglao, Tubigon and Panglao. It was observed in Catigbian, Batuan and Ubay.

Eid’l Fitr, also known as the “Feast of Breaking the Fast,” is one of Islam’s most important celebrations, marking the end of a month-long period of fasting, prayer, and reflection that began on March 2.

It is traditionally celebrated with congregational prayers at mosques or open grounds, festive meals shared with family and friends, and acts of charity such as Zakat al-Fitr.
