The Bureau of Immigration (BI) apprehended a foreign national in an operation in Bohol for overstaying in the country.
Operatives of the BI’s Intelligence Division, in coordination with the Panglao Municipal Police, arrested Chinese national Dong Chengzhi, 27, in Barangay Doljo, Panglao on Thursday, Feb. 20.
Dong was arrested after the BI received intelligence reports the presence of overstaying alien in the area.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws.
“The Bureau remains vigilant in tracking down overstaying foreign nationals and ensuring compliance with visa regulations,” said Viado.
“Violators will face legal consequences, and we will not tolerate any disregard for immigration laws, ” he added.
Dong will remain under the BI’s custody pending the resolution of their deportation case.
