Cebu, Bohol to hold joint session today

The Sangguniang Panlalawigans of Cebu and Bohol will hold a joint session at Cebu Social Hall in Cebu City on Monday afternoon, Nov. 18, 2024, the first in recent years.

The provincial boards will tackle the proposed resolution on sisterhood agreement between the provincial governments of Cebu and Bohol.

The resolution was jointly authored by Cebu Board Members Glenn Anthony Soco and Michael Joseph Villamor and co-authored by Bohol Board Member Jiselle Rae Villamor to enter into and forge a sisterhood agreement with the purpose to strengthen and foster inter province’s bond of cooperation in relation to tourism, commerce, business and economy and other shared benefits and growth for Region VII.

Region VII is now composed of the provinces of Cebu and Bohol, and the highly-urbanized cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu Lapu.

The passage of Republic Act No. 12000 or An Act Establishing the Negros Island Region, the provinces of Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental including Bacolod City and Siquijor are now collectively known as Negros Island Region (NIR).
