Classes for Tuesday, October 22, 2024, have been suspended in Bohol province due to the effects of Tropical Depression Kristine.

Classes are suspended for kindergarten, elementary and high school in both public and private schools.

Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado in his memorandum circular said that flooding and rain-induced landslides are possible particularly in areas that are highly susceptible to these hazards as the province of Bohol is expected to experience heavy to intense rainfall tomorrow bringing strong to gale-force gusts of severe winds along the coastal and upland areas of the province.

“The suspension of classes is a preventive step for all Boholanos, primarily to ensure their safety and for them to be with their respective families in this weather disturbance,” said Aumentado.

He cautioned residents especially those living in low-lying and coastal areas and those in elevated and mountainous areas, are advised to take extra precaution against the threat of flooding and/or rain-induced landslides.

The governor also directed the mayors with their respective municipal disaster risk reduction and management councils to conduct continuous monitoring on the status of their respective AORs as well as to conduct preemptive evacuation, if needed, per the Provincial Ordinance No. 2021-014.
