Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado’s return sparked excitement in Alburquerque as his Abante Barangay Service Caravan, organized by the provincial government, delivered vital aid and services on Wednesday, August 14.
Marked as Aumentado’s first stop since his return due to the two-month preventive suspension, the caravan drew in a large crowd from the barangays of Alburquerque as they welcomed the governor’s as arrival at Barangay Basacdacu.
In his message, the governor shared his experience during his suspension and expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported him and sent positive messages during the challenges in his leadership.
“Magpasalamat ko ninyo sa panahon nga diha ko sa kalisod tungod kay ang inyong suporta, ang inyong mga gipadangat nako nga mga maayong pulong nakahatag nako og kalig-on sa panahon nga suspended ko for two months,” he said.
Aumentado also emphasized his commitment to assisting the barangays, adding that this is just the beginning of more vital programs from the provincial government under his leadership.
It can be noted that Aumentado, upon becoming the governor of Bohol, quickly began visiting various communities to provide essential services and financial assistance from the Capitol to support barangay programs and projects.
Delivering a message of peace, he also encouraged known rebels to return to the government, with continued anti-insurgency campaigns under his administration having led to the surrender of some remaining members of the leftist group.
This anti-insurgency effort has also positively impacted the tourism industry, as the number of tourists visiting the province has increased.
Five barangays benefited the Abante Barangay Service Caravan, including Basacdacu, Cantiguib, Dangay, Ponong, and Toril.
During the event, the governor handed over financial assistance amounting to ₱200,000 to Barangay Basacdacu officials, led by Captain Julieto Masayon, for their farm-to-market road concreting project.
The Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development distributed 1,295 food packs to the five barangays and 66 children received bags through the Education Development Center.
The Governor’s Office-Medical Outreach Unit and Provincial Health Office provided free medicine, check-ups, circumcisions, and dental services, along with urinalysis, stool examinations, and other health services to 274 individuals in Alburquerque.
The Register of Deeds participated in the event by delivering completed land titles to their owners who attended the caravan.
Aumentado thanked everyone involved in the caravan.
The governor also thanked Mayor Don Ritchie Buates of Alburquerque and the residents for the successful event.
