The Bohol Showcase Center and Study Hub is set to open at the CPG Park on Bohol Day, July 22.
The facility, run by the provincial government of Bohol through the Provincial Economic Enterprise Management Office (PEEMO), will serve as a platform for showcasing local crafts and arts, cuisines, and agricultural produce while also providing a conducive environment for studying and working.
The project, conceptualized by Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte, with the directive of Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado, aspires to be a catalyst for cultural preservation, community participation, and lifelong learning.
The showcase center will feature various products from farmers, people’s organizations, and other small and medium enterprises.
These include local cuisine, locally produced rice, crafts, souvenirs and artworks, fresh fruits and vegetables as well as processed and frozen food.
According to PEEMO head Liza Flores, the area will be provided with dining tables and chairs so that it can be used as a venue for meetings.
Meanwhile, the study hub, designed for studying and learning, is equipped with computers, printers, books, journals, and other materials that students need.
The area can also be transformed into an art installation, performance venue, or cultural hub.
Its purpose of supporting and promoting local enterprises also strives to create opportunities for access to broader markets.
These align with the strategic governance framework of the provincial leadership to foster economic growth and empowerment at the grassroots level.
PEEMO, created through Provincial Ordinance No. 2018-001, is mandated to develop, operate and manage provincial government enterprises.
The office is also tasked to provide institutional support particularly in maximizing economic potentials of the provincial government’s real properties and assets to generate additional revenue which can be directed towards the delivery of public services in pursuit of its economic and social development thrust.
